There are several ways to get up to the Verdugo Motorway which runs
along the Verdugo Mountains. Right off the exit of La Tuna Canyon
is one option. Other includes include Beaudry, Whiting Woods, Las Flores,
Brand and one or two others.
La Tuna Fireroad - This is a fireroad climb up to the Verdugo Motorway.
It is a 3.5 mile climb with a steep initial climb within a 1/2 mile of the
beginning. There are some nice views of La Crescenta along the way and when
you reach the top, you can look over Burbank.
La Tuna Trail - This trails start about 2 miles from where the La
Tuna Fireroad intersects the Verdugo Motorway. It is a fun 2 mile descent
through two valleys. The first 1/4 quarter are steep and require me to be
heavily on the breaks. After that, you twist your way through a canyon
and then climb out of that canyon and descend into another canyon where
the singletrack flows smoothly. The winding in the first canyon has lots of
rocks strewn about and has two sections I need to carry my bike uphill.
