There used to be actual buildings in this area, but have long since washed away. Old pictures I have seen showed all sorts of amenities.

Gabrielino Trail from Redbox to Switzer's Camp - This is a super fun part of the Gabrielino trail system. It about 4.5 miles from Redbox to Switzer's camp and is wide open at times. There are a few technical sections, but in general, it is fast. So you need to be careful of your speed.

Gabrielino Trail from Switzer's Camp to JPL - This is a fun ride through the Arroyo Seco. The first mile or so requires a few hike a bikes for me, but once you get going, the trail flows really well until you get to the Oakwilde camp. The trail is well maintained and just goes. But once you reach the Oakwilde camp, you begin some stream crossings that require walking the bike.

Clear Creek to Switzer's Trail - This is a 0.5 mile trail that goes from the Clear Creek ranger station to Switzer's. It is fun and fast and too short. I usually with throw this onto my Redbox to Switzer ride or from Grizzly Flats to the Hoyt Trail or onto the Strawberry Peak ride.
